Now Departing does not collect any personal information. The app has no accounts, analytics, or advertising.
Your location is used only to find the subway stations near you and how long the walk is to each. It is never collected. To estimate walking times, the app asks Apple Maps for walking directions from your location to nearby stations, subject to Apple's privacy policy. Your last location is kept on your device for up to an hour, so nearby stations appear right away when you open the app.
Favorites are saved only on your device, where the widgets can read them. If you use the Apple Watch app, they sync directly between your iPhone and your watch.
The countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island is updated by the app on your device. No push server is involved.
Arrival times and service alerts come directly from the MTA's real-time data feeds, and the list of stations is downloaded from the app's GitHub repository. These requests never include your location. Walking times come from Apple Maps, as described above, and Get Directions opens Apple Maps, subject to Apple's privacy policy. No intermediary server is involved.
This site uses no cookies or analytics. The home and game pages load a pixel font from Google Fonts.
